Brimfield Select Board accepts 1927 fire truck, names Agricultural Commission members

Brimfield's Select Board voted unanimously to take ownership of a restored 1927 fire truck that the Firefighters Association could not insure under its own name. The board accepted the transfer with the understanding that the association retains responsibility for all maintenance, fuel, and routine upkeep, while the town covers an estimated $1,500 annual insurance cost — with discussion of the association potentially reimbursing that amount. The board also appointed Roger DeBruin, John Freeman, and Joseph Venezia to the newly formed Agricultural Commission, which the town is fast-tracking to handle a backlog of dog complaints that state law routes through that body first.

In other action, the board approved a $3,296.70 email security contract from Viper, renewed police and fire accident insurance for fiscal year 2027 at $14,449, extended a Community Development Block Grant through June 30, 2027, and voted to apply for a One Stop for Growth grant to fund long-sought sidewalk improvements along Route 19 and North Main Street.
