Select Board · Meeting of September 17, 2026

Brimfield Select Board votes 5-0 to send an amended dog-complaint letter, then learns of a court appeal. Member Tom Stewart's amendment added all 10 original petition signers to a certified letter notifying the owners of a dog at 28 East Hill Road of the board's mitigation decision, after Administrative Assistant Chris DeFalco explained the draft had named only lead complainants Carolyn and Jerry Deacon. The board approved the amendment and the amended main motion by identical 5-0 roll calls: Frazier, Stewart, DeBruin, McGuire and Kelly.

Chairperson Martin Kelly called the plan to CC complainants on the letter "exactly the right thing to do." Before adjourning, a member disclosed that the dog owners filed an appeal in Palmer District Court on September 3, 2026, prompting Kelly to cut off discussion, saying it was "not listed on the agenda" and citing the Open Meeting Law.
